A sculpture, executed in stainless steel, depicts the theme of a poem by Siegfried Sassoon engraved on a green slate set into the floor of the octagonal foyer. The child cradled within the three delicate fingers of the sculpture looks hopefully out towards a bright future. These works remind us that the Hall is indeed a memorial to those who served and fell in both world wars. The building replaces an earlier hall built soon after the Great War.
